As a Mambo, Bruja, a Witch, it all starts when you meet your teacher. I met my teacher when I was seventeen years old in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I saw one of her dance performances and I was interested in taking dance classes with her. While I was taking dance classes, I noticed improvements in my body and observed the blossoming of beauty. When the day came she offered her students classes in mysticism, meditations, and spiritual healing practices for women, I did not hesitate to sign up. It was here my foundational knowledge in how energy moves through the body and synchronizes to the earth started.
For those who are not spiritual or are beginning their path of healing, it is important to point out that this path is not linear, it is cyclical. That is why all spiritual masters may appear to be a bit crazy and existing outside of what we call “normal”. I do not claim to be a spiritual master, and we can dive in deeper to what this means in my tradition at a later time.
I studied belly dancing and women’s spirituality with my teacher for four years until I was called to study musical theater in Long Island, New York. As I began a career in technical theater, my spiritual studies faded, and my imbalances returned. It was six years later I reached out to my teacher in search of help, I got myself into a difficult situation and could not see a solution. She agreed to help me, and so began the second cycle of my spiritual education.
After reconnecting with my teacher and receiving her help, a familiar knowing reemerged. This knowing was subtle, like a puzzle piece being put in its proper place. Nothing had to be said, or needed to be said, I trusted that whatever my teacher recommended for me to do next, was what there was to do. No questions asked. It was at this time I started a career as a traveling technician for theatrical productions, this is important piece of my spiritual education, and you will see why soon.
At this time, I was invited to study Sanse Espiritismo, a folkloric shamanic tradition with its roots in Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico with Mama Shoshana. I came into the class with no set goals, only a knowing that this is where I needed to be.
I would like to take a minute to acknowledge my teachers and their grace in offering these empowering teachings to the public. This spiritual tradition has lived through some of history’s atrocious wars, plagues, and injustices all the while being people’s access to healing, justice, strength and empowerment. My teachers were passed down the sacred rites, rituals, and teachings to advocate for people and provide access to healing that surpasses modern medical practices and modalities. This is another one of those topics we can spend much time diving deeper into, and we will save this fascinating truth for another time.
As my career progressed, I traveled all over the World working backstage at shows. In the midst of working 80-hour weeks, I continued taking Sanse Espiritismo classes. My teachers guided me in how to adapt practices and rituals to different environments. Practicing these rituals while living on a tour bus with eleven other individuals, hotel rooms, arena locker rooms, semi-truck trailers, underneath stages, backstage in theaters, on the side of roads, gas stations, and warehouses. I traveled to Singapore, all over Europe, down to Costa Rica, and have been all over the United States at least 10 times over. During my travels, I would read about botany and plant identification and would often create planters out of milk crates, so they were easily transferred in the truck, and I would have fresh herbs to continue my studies.
My altar started as a suitcase and I hauled around a bunch of spiritual supplies all over the place. One time, my suitcase broke open after I checked it. When I went to baggage claim to pick up my suitcase, the bag came out duct taped and my items were coming out in pieces. People in the airport started handing me pieces like colored candles, cloth bags of supplies, a small cauldron, a wooden box covered in burn marks, glitter, wax, spiritual waters, and more. After some time, I learned that it wasn’t about the supplies, and my traveling alter evolved into a roll of fabric with a few items.
My spiritual work pushed me to do things I would never think to do on my free time. I remember one time I was living on a bus while on tour in Europe, and I took a walk to find a clearing to do my meditations and prayers. We were outside an arena and it was summertime- the sun was shining and there was a cool breeze to offset the heat. There was a nice walking trail next to the arena and I started walking down the trail to find a quit space to light my candles and do my work. I often found quiet patches of grass in parking lots, so I felt lucky today to have the opportunity to be more in nature.
As I walked down this trail, I found a small clearing and a dirt path that cut through the middle. In the middle of this clearing was a tent that someone clearly lived out of. I paused, remembered my teachings about a spirit named Papa Legbah who is the patron saint of the crossroads and those who are homeless. He is a very old spirit who is worshipped in many traditions, and is known for opening up or closing down opportunities. I decided to turn back and head to the bus to gather some supplies.
Living on a bus was one of my favorite experiences because they are usually stocked with the best snack foods- peanut butter and jelly, sandwich makings, granola bars, bottles of water, chips, fruit, and more. We often would eat on the bus as to not bother with trying to go out and order food. On this day, I went back to the bus, grabbed plastic bags, and packed up the food we had on there to leave for the person who was living in a tent. I cleaned out the cupboards, packed a bag of bottled waters, and threw in a roll of toilet paper. It was three bags filled to the top of food and supplies, enough to feed a person for a week.
With the bags of food, I headed back to the clearing where the tent was. When I came to the clearing, I walked down the dirt path to the tent. When I came to the tent, it was clear this was someone’s home, no one was there, and to not be rude I left the bags just inside the tent, out of the sun, and turned around and walked back. In a World full of self-consumption, this spiritual path broke me free from seeing what was only right in front of me. This is one of many times my spiritual work has guided me to a sacred space of autonomy.
As life be what it be, of course there were struggles and difficulties to overcome. Especially as one of the few successful women in my industry. As a bruja, it is in my nature to empower my spiritual work to ignite the light that illuminates my path forward. In other words, when I had problems, the solutions were mostly resolved with spiritual work. Problems at work- there is a recipe for that. Problems with love- there is a recipe for that. Problems with money- there is a recipe for that. Experiencing spiritual attacks- time to consult with your spiritual teachers to do the work that needs to be done.
When you reach the peak that you seek,
You will find it is quite meek.
For the space that you seek,
Can not be found on no peak.
Seek the mirror and you will see,
The peak you seek is within your meat.
After many years working as a traveling technician, traveling to many places, and my spiritual lessons underway- I realized that I was not going to find what I was looking for with this lifestyle. My spiritual path had developed to the point where it was no longer acceptable for me to be practicing in environments such as parking lots, underneath stages, tour busses, warehouses, truck trailers, and random fields. That time was coming to an end and traveling turned into a burden rather than an opportunity. At this time, my teachers informed the next phase of my spiritual lessons- in my tradition this is called second level initiation where you undergo the sacred rituals and ceremonies to provide spiritual readings for others.
At this time, I did not know what that meant. I never saw myself as someone who could offer spiritual readings, mysticism, or healing of any kind to others. The faith in my heart overruled any ounce of doubt in me. For those of you who are unsure of what this means, a second level initiation in my tradition is the beginning of one’s training as a bruja, a witch, a Mambo. The ceremony takes about a week, and it is in the months and years after which reveals the spiritual lessons, blessings, and gifts for any practitioner to empower. Out of respect and deep love for my teachers and tradition, that is all I can share about our lineage and training.
If you are asking yourself at this point, why do I care and why is this important, you are on the right track. My story, trials, tribulations, gifts, and powers are all pointless without the opportunity to share what I have with others. You often hear people say “I’ve been through hell and back”, with the assumption that this entitles them to something. For myself, I am humbled to have learned a few things to make life on this planet worth living and I have the opportunity to share that with all of you.
The purpose of this spiritual work is to live a good life of wellness, love, strength, power, and unity. I am one who can offer simple spiritual solutions that have worked for thousands of years. I will always be a student of the mysteries, and I thank the almighty every day for the opportunity to learn from my teachers.
If you are in need of assistance in life, as we all are, book a session and let’s look into what’s going on and what can be done. In the event I am not able to provide you with what is needed, I will refer you to those who are in a position that can. My intention here is to share what has been passed down to me, so that you have the opportunity to live a life of goodness.
It is not the feet that moves forward,
Tis the Fuerza.
The body is but a tool,
Use it wisely.

As a certified Mambo, my journey has been one of deep commitment, rigorous training, and mysticism. I received my initiation under the tutelage of the Spiritual Teachers Voodoo, an ancient lineage that has withstood the test of time. Guided by the wisdom of Priestess Shoshana and the teachings of Espiritismo, I have been entrusted with the responsibility to carry forward sacred practices that offer healing, justice, and empowerment. My certification is a testament to the years of dedication and spiritual trials I have overcome, and it connects me deeply to a lineage that has provided guidance through history’s most challenging times.
This certification is more than just a title; it is a living connection to a spiritual tradition that empowers me to offer authentic spiritual readings, potions, and magic. I am deeply grateful to my teacher for passing down her wisdom and equipping me with the tools to guide others on their journeys. With humility and honor, I continue to uphold these teachings, offering them to those who seek solutions and a life of wellness, love, and strength.
